Wow! Subbed Nirvana in Fire 2 is in Dramahood. Nirvana in Fire 1 must be my favorite and number 1 long drama in my life to date. Hu Ge’s portrayal as the adviser to the character of Wan Kai, the King, was amazing. Tribes and Empires and other recent Chinese historical dramas are outdoing themselves in terms of scale, glorious locations, extravagant costumes and stellar cast. And the productions seem to get better and better. Because they chose to have a fresh set of characters and actors, I am a bit apprehensive that this second drama may not live up to the excellent first instalment. Perfection is hard to trump, after all. But Xiaoming is ever the rage today so I will cross my fingers in the hope that he is up to filling in big shoes.
You wrote my thoughts so beautifully. The first season of NIF was perfection. The way everything made sense in the end was spectecular. In the beginning of the show we see the pieces of the puzzle but watching how Mei changsu assembled those pieces left us at the edge of our seats each episode. The character Mei Changsu reminded me of michael scofield of prison break. They both had the gift of foresight and planning everything to the tenth. The expectation is real for this season. I will go in with open mind and give it a fair chance. I hope it exceeds our expections.
Thank you for the upvote. Unlike Nirvana in Fire 1 where the political play and undercurrent for revenge were done with stealth and care, this first two episodes open with a bang and pools of blood. So I guess they aim to change the pace and mood from the get go. Virtually pinch me when I keep on comparing the two seasons. I should really give this drama a fair chance.
I havent watched it yet, I am afraid of starting it and having to wait for the subs. I am so tempted to just go ahead and dive in. Ok I will just start the show and after I watch the first 3 episode we can suffer together waiting for subs:). I honestly hope I dont compare to two. I want this one to stand out on its own. I will remind you and you do the same OK:)))
should i watch 1first?
you mean the first NIF? i suggest you watch that masterpiece. but for this, no need i guess. the 2nd NIF start 50 years after the first one. so not really related, except the main characters from the first one is family related with the second series
Good luck living up to season 1…. Fingers crossed.
I love how it’s nearly the same starting as Nirvana In Fire one, except Nirvan In Fire one had a butterfly.
